Springing into Spring!

Like many people when I think of Spring I can smell fresh cut grass, there are birds singing and colour is joyfully bursting through the last remnants of winter. Recently the days have been longer and brighter, it’s been milder and the sense that spring is just around the corner has been lurking in my mind. All of a sudden from nowhere we have been blessed with some wonderful weather, clear skies, the sun absolutely dazzling. This has given me the kick-start I needed to finally get around to organizing my make-up and just generally my room. It has also made me break out my brighter colours as summer has re-entered my wardrobe.

The first thing I sorted through was my make-up. This in itself was a mammoth task, I have a tendency to hoard stuff thinking that I will get around to using it and I don’t – I never do. I had a serious talk with myself and got rid of loads that I haven’t worn for months or that I didn’t really like but still had in my box.  I am quite proud of myself as the result looks neat and tidy and all fits in the drawers where it is supposed to go. To give me more space for my blushes and bronzers etc. I have two very, very large wine glasses I found in a charity shop as extra storage one for my make-up brushes, the other for all my lip balms as I always end up having quite a few and then leaving them in different bags this make them easier to grab.

The next thing was sorting through and untangling my necklaces and rings, I have a gorgeous jewellery box why not use it properly? I am quite happy that I got everything in it but again I had to be harsh with myself and just face up to the reality that I can’t keep something just because it’s pretty if I never wear it.

P1020199 My nail polishes and supplies had all been in a box and rather than leaving them in the box I have stood them all in the lid. This has given me the box back as storage and makes it easier to find my nail polishes and files, as I am not constantly searching through a large box to find what I want.

This next collection are my favourite spring brights. I love wearing bright colours come spring and particularly brighter shimmery make-up or a bold lip colour, they make me feel happier and more feminine. In general spring and colours go hand in hand and I just love it. The satchel is a gorgeous mint green colour from Dorothy Perkins, Revlon colorburst matte balm in 245 Audacious and 210 Unapologetic. I also have Soap and Glory Archery which really does wonders for your brows and two blushers Mac sheertone shimmer blush in Dollymix and Laura Geller bake brulee blush in apple custard which is a lovely highlighter or just a subtle shimmer blush. I also love this wire headband, it fun and help to hide a bad hair day.

February Hits and Misses

There were a few new products that I have been trying out this February and some I have been loving while others not so much at all. That isn’t to say that the I didn’t like the products, just that there were more aspects that I didn’t like than I did.

My misses for February are first of all because this is the biggest miss as it were, is the Nice ‘n’ Easy foam hair colour in dark brown. I absolutely love the colour, it’s rich and hasn’t begun to fade like others do by this point. My issue with it is that it stains my skin something horrid my scalp was brown for ages afterwards along with my ears and forehead which leads me to another bad point. I usually don’t get dye anywhere when I use normal ones, the foam application method provides less accuracy and I think this irritated me too much and coupled with the large gloves you are supplied with it was just messier than using an ordinary dye with a nozzle.

Another miss was the Bourjois healthy mix serum fond de tint gel. This does feel soft and luxurious on your skin. It’s moisturizing and gives you a radiant complexion however, on my skin it just doesn’t last very long not even with the help of primer – it’s quite disappointingly gone by lunch time. It’s for this reason only that it’s a miss as out of all my make up I want my foundation to last all day.

There have been a few hits this past month as far as I am concerned, one of them was this eyeliner. Not quite sure what brand it is but for an impulse online buy it is quite frankly the best liquid liner I have ever used. It stays put all day and doesn’t rub off my oily eyelids. Not only does the bottle look gorgeous, it also has a kohl pen in the top of the lid which is a twist pen and really easy to use as well. The tip for the liquid liner is like a felt tip which again, makes it really easy to use and I just think it’s perfect for creating a winged look.

I have also been using the Revlon Photoready perfecting primer and this feels wonderful on my skin I love the smooth moisturised feeling I get after using it not only does it do the job it makes my skin feel nourished in comparison to my seventeen stay matte primer which when you look at your hands after they are white and sort of crusty it just peels off and really dries out the skin, which is why I am really loving the Revlon one as it doesn’t do that.

Now I have bad skin and I am constantly on the search for products that will keep it under control and I have become addicted to Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. It removes make up and cleanses skin, my mascara is so easy to remove completely using this and I feel that my skin I really improving even my problem areas around my mouth and chin are beginning to clear up.

Another face product I have been using everyday is L’Oreal Skin Perfection Velvety-Soft Toner, again this has really been helping to clear up my skin but it feels so much softer and smoother.

The best thing about these two products is that you don’t need to use much each time and they are well worth the money you spend Garnier Micellar cleansing water is just £3 (Asda) and the L’Oreal Toner £2 (Asda). I have had these a month now and after using twice a day everyday I can only just see the empty space at the top of the bottles.
